Dr Ravindra Kumar Singh is Associate Professor of Law at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), and has over 13 years of teaching experience, including over 9 years at the PG level. He did his BA, LLB and LLM from the University of Allahabad, and PhD from Gujarat University. Currently he is the Dean (Academic Affairs) of GNLU. He is also a member of the Executive Council of GNLU.
Dr Singh was conferred with the ‘Excellent Faculty Award’ by GNLU for the year 2009-2010. He was also awarded the ‘Education Leadership Award’ at the 26th Business School Affaire & Dewang Mehta National Education Awards (Regional Round) for the year 2018. He is the author of a book titled, Law Relating to Electronic Contracts (ISBN: 978-93-5143-713-0), published by LexisNexis. Besides, he has published research papers and articles on a range of subjects, particularly, legal education, constitutional law and contract law.
In the year 2016, he was selected for deputation as ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Rotating Chair (Visiting Professor of Indian Studies) at Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany for a period of one semester, i.e. from 10 October 2016 to 31 March 2017. Earlier, under DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, i.e. the German Academic Exchange Service), he delivered lectures at the Faculty of Law, University of Cologne, Germany (15 May 2013 – 31 May 2013).
As a resource person, Dr Singh has delivered lectures on various topics at different institutes of repute. He has coordinated/offered Certificate Courses on ‘International Contracts’, ‘Infrastructure Contracts’ and offered advanced training programme on ‘Government Contract and Law of Tenders’.
He was the Project Convenor of a project titled, ‘Effectiveness of Government Measures for the Reduction of Court Cases’, which was awarded to GNLU by the Legal Department, Gujarat Government. He was also the Project Convenor of Swarnim Gujarat Project on Speedy Disposal of Backlog of Cases, an initiative of GNLU. From GNLU side, Dr Singh was the ‘Principal Legal Consultant’ for a consultancy assignment (awarded by the Gujarat Maritime Board to GNLU) for ‘Preparation of Standard Tender Documents’ for various works of Gujarat Maritime Board.
As a Visiting Faculty, Dr Singh has been associated with Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management (AIIM), Ahmedabad since its inception. At AIIM, he has taught courses on ‘Legal Aspects of Infrastructure Business I & II’ and ‘Contract Management’ to the participants of one-year Post Graduate Programme in Infrastructure Management (PGPIM). He has also taught the course, ‘Legal Aspects of Infrastructure Business’ to the participants of two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Management (PGDM).
