Coal is primary source of fuel for a Thermal Power Plant, which contributes to 90% of the operating cost. Hence Fuel management forms an integral part of Thermal Power Plant operations. Fuel Management process starts from project conceptualization stage and runs through the day-to-day operations. There are broadly 4 sub processes – Planning, Sourcing, Logistics and Handling (quality management) of coal.

While considering Thermal Power Plant Projects, fuel management forms an integral part of these projects and to cater to this need we are moving in the right direction and providing students with both theoretical as well as practical exposure. Mr Sudhakar J Mantena, Senior Manager at Adani Renewable has years of experience in managing thermal plants and he is at AIIM to shares his insights with students on fuel management.

Mr. Dipak Kumar Panchal, Manager Adani Group discussed in depth about his experience of Government Initiatives in Infrastructure Projects. Mr. Panchal discussed in detail, Government Initiatives : Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Start-up India, Executive India and Incredible India.

Mr. Panchal emphasized about Infrastructure sector is a key driver for the Indian economy.The sector is highly responsible for propelling India’s overall development and enjoys intense focus from the Government for initiating policies that would ensure time-bound creation of world class infrastructure in the country. In 2016, India jumped 19 places in World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) 2016, to rank 35th amongst 160 countries.
