A breakwater is a structure constructed for the purpose of forming an artificial harbour with a basin, to protect the ships from the effect of waves and provide safe berthing for vessels. Mr. Abhishek Basu has explained students about the role of breakwaters with respect to continuing climate change & its adverse effects on weather and marine conditions; the planning, designing and execution of breakwater with a practical and futuristic outlook which is emerging of utmost importance to suitably safeguard the costly infrastructure and the habitations behind it.
